How to Migrate @UnisysCorp Mainframes to #AWS | @CloudExpo #CloudNative #SaaS #PaaS
Cloud providers like AWS have proven to be a viable option for running mainframe application workloads. The most effective method to exploit the value of Unisys mainframe applications and data is a transformative migration to modern systems frameworks in AWS, reusing as much of the original application source as possible. Execute a discover, design, modern, test, and implement cycle to move mainframe applications.
Some mainframe migration tools can keep existing code in place, but expect to replace components and rethink data storage.
[session] @Schmarzo’s Economic Value of Data | @CloudExpo @DellEMC #BigData #Analytics
Organizations do not need a Big Data strategy; they need a business strategy that incorporates Big Data. Most organizations lack a road map for using Big Data to optimize key business processes, deliver a differentiated customer experience, or uncover new business opportunities. They do not understand what’s possible with respect to integrating Big Data into the business model.
The #LowCode Revolution Is Here to Stay | @DevOpsSummit #CloudNative #DX #DevOps
The year 2017 so far has been the year of digital transformation with cloud , IoT , APIs and Low code application development gaining focus . Companies that build Low Code Platforms and help organisations build business applications are beginning to see these technologies scale up. Low code platforms market is expected to scale up to $20B by the end of the decade, says Forrester. So ,when a lot of business enterprises across the globe have been talking about this low code revolution we delve deep into the realms of this application development methodology and its role in digital transformation.
Communications Coming Full Circle | @ThingsExpo #AI #IoT #M2M #Sensors
With the wave of personal assistants, such as Siri, Cortana and Google Assistant, and new startups leveraging AI and analytics to build personal companions, it’s becoming clear we are moving toward a new voice-controlled relationship with technology. As we have already seen in the consumer market, it is all but a given that these voice-activation systems will eventually make it into the enterprise environment, as the potential benefits of these systems could be tremendous in simplifying and automating activities. Although it may be a long time before we see the full likenesses of “HAL” from “2001: A Space Odyssey”, the technology is already here that can improve the ways businesses operate.

Get ahead of the Internet of Things revolution and join Akvelon expert and IoT industry leader, Sergey Grebnov, in his session at @ThingsExpo, for an educational dive into the world of managing your home, workplace and all the devices they contain with the power of machine-based AI and intelligent Bot services for a completely streamlined experience.
[slides] Make Use of Serverless Compute Solutions | @CloudExpo @Infostretch #AI #IoT #M2M #AWS #Serverless
When shopping for a new data processing platform for IoT solutions, many development teams want to be able to test-drive options before making a choice. Yet when evaluating an IoT solution, it’s simply not feasible to do so at scale with physical devices. Building a sensor simulator is the next best choice; however, generating a realistic simulation at very high TPS with ease of configurability is a formidable challenge. When dealing with multiple application or transport protocols, you would be looking at some significant engineering investment.
On-demand, serverless computing enables developers to try out a fleet of devices on IoT gateways with ease. With a sensor simulator built on top of AWS Lambda, it’s possible to elastically generate device sensors that report their state to the cloud.
Isaac Asimov: The 4th Law of Robotics | @ThingsExpo #AI #ML #DX #DigitalTransformation
Like me, I’m sure that many of you nerds have read the book “I, Robot.” “I, Robot” is the seminal book written by Isaac Asimov (actually it was a series of books, but I only read the one) that explores the moral and ethical challenges posed by a world dominated by robots.
But I read that book like 50 years ago, so the movie “I, Robot” with Will Smith is actually more relevant to me today. The movie does a nice job of discussing the ethical and moral challenges associated with a society where robots play such a dominant and crucial role in everyday life.
ITSM Modernizing | @CloudExpo #Cloud #DevOps #ChatOps #Automation
IT teams define success as solving problems quickly. To enable ITSM modernization we have to think of adopting the tools and methods that will enable resolution of ITSM issues more quickly. To be clear, modernization does not mean stepping away from SLAs or DevOps. Instead, modernization means bringing on automation of key IT processes and capturing information that can be used to improve future customer interactions or product launches or methodologies.
[slides] #BigData and #IoT: The Economic Benefits | @ThingsExpo #DX #DigitalTransformation
In his session at @ThingsExpo, Dr. Robert Cohen, an economist and senior fellow at the Economic Strategy Institute, presented the findings of a series of six detailed case studies of how large corporations are implementing IoT. The session explored how IoT has improved their economic performance, had major impacts on business models and resulted in impressive ROIs. The companies covered span manufacturing and services firms. He also explored servicification, how manufacturing firms shift from selling a product to offering it as a service and discussed methods you can employ to estimate how investing in IoT will affect your firm.
