A steel bar is resistant to stress and is capable of maintaining its form while bearing large loads. While steel is also known as one of the world’s strongest metal’s (Titanium, Tungsten and Iconel round out the top four), it is also susceptible to shearing and completely breaking. A rubber brick, on the other hand, will bend easily under even small loads, but it’s extremely difficult to snap or break. Moreover, once the load is removed from the rubber, its flexibility returns it to its original form. This is how the rubber brick displays resiliency

RTC’s Impact on Communications | @ThingsExpo #IoT #M2M #RTC #WebRTC
P2P RTC will impact the landscape of communications, shifting from traditional telephony style communications models to OTT (Over-The-Top) cloud assisted & PaaS (Platform as a Service) communication services. The P2P shift will impact many areas of our lives, from mobile communication, human interactive web services, RTC and telephony infrastructure, user federation, security and privacy implications, business costs, and scalability.
In his session at @ThingsExpo, Robin Raymond, Chief Architect at Hookflash, will walk through the shifting landscape of traditional telephone and voice services to the modern P2P RTC era of OTT cloud assisted services.

Watson Crowdsources Cloud Computing | @CloudExpo #Cloud #CognitiveComputing #DigitalTransformation
Recently I’ve been doing quite a bit of analysis work using the IBM Watson cognitive business platform. The really exciting thing about this opportunity is the way data can seem to have a conversation with you. This got me wondering if social media data could carry on a conversation as well. Given my almost unhealthy interest in cloud computing, we ran a one week experiment to «crowdsource the internet» in order to see if it held any interesting cloud computing insights.
[session] Legacy with #WebRTC | @ThingsExpo #IoT #M2M #RTC #UCaaS
Fact is, enterprises have significant legacy voice infrastructure that’s costly to replace with pure IP solutions. How can we bring this analog infrastructure into our shiny new cloud applications? There are proven methods to bind both legacy voice applications and traditional PSTN audio into cloud-based applications and services at a carrier scale. Some of the most successful implementations leverage WebRTC, WebSockets, SIP and other open source technologies.
In his session at @ThingsExpo, Dan Cunningham, CTO of ReadyTalk, will cover real world examples of how enterprises and vendors alike can modernize infrastructure without ditching existing investments.
Ops, APIs and Compression | @DevOpsSummit #API #APM #DevOps
I’ve been reading up on APIs cause, coolness. And in particular I really enjoyed reading Best Practices for Designing a Pragmatic RESTful API because it had a lot of really good information and advice.
And then I got to the part about compressing your APIs.
Before we go too far let me first say I’m not saying you shouldn’t compress your API or app responses. You probably should. What I am saying is that where you compress data and when are important considerations.
Government Can Influence Cloud Interoperability | @CloudExpo #API #SaaS #Cloud #FedRAMP
A BriefingsDirect thought leadership panel discussion explores how public-sector organizations can gain economic benefits from cloud interoperability and standardization.
Our panel comes to you in conjunction with The Open Group Paris Event and Member Meeting October 24 through 27, 2016 in France, with a focus on the latest developments in eGovernment.
As government agencies move to the public cloud computing model, the use of more than one public cloud provider can offer economic benefits by a competition and choice. But are the public clouds standardized efficiently for true interoperability, and can the large government contracts in the offing for cloud providers have an impact on the level of maturity around standardization?
Wearable Medical Devices | @ThingsExpo #IoT #M2M #API #WearableTech
The global wireless health market by products encompasses ECG monitors, insulin monitors, neuromonitors such as EEG and EMG devices.
Recent estimations show that an astounding 1.8 million people across the world will be using wireless remote monitoring devices by 2017. Many of these users will be those suffering from chronic diseases. To put that into perspective, consider this: about 75% of all healthcare expenditure worldwide is spent on patients suffering from chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma, and Alzheimers, and cardiovascular problems. Grappling with these issues, the healthcare industry has attempted to increase the integration of technology into medical services, and the wireless health market is expected to benefit from this. Transparency Market Research’s report, titled ‘Wireless Health Market – Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast 2015–2023,’ says that wearable medical devices will show the fastest growth within this market.
[session] Identity Management in #IoT | @ThingsExpo #BigData #M2M #API
What happens when the different parts of a vehicle become smarter than the vehicle itself? As we move toward the era of smart everything, hundreds of entities in a vehicle that communicate with each other, the vehicle and external systems create a need for identity orchestration so that all entities work as a conglomerate. Much like an orchestra without a conductor, without the ability to secure, control, and connect the link between a vehicle’s head unit, devices, and systems and to manage the lifecycle of people, systems and devices, transportation and fleet services are at risk of having connected, yet disparate systems.
Apache #Hadoop and #BigData Standards | @CloudExpo #IoT #M2M #BI #ML
Ten short years ago, Apache Hadoop was just a small project deployed on a few machines at Yahoo and within a few years, it had truly become the backbone of Yahoo’s data infrastructure. Additionally, the current Apache Hadoop market is forecasted to surpass $16 billion by 2020.
This might lead you to believe that Apache Hadoop is currently the backbone of data infrastructures for all enterprises; however, widespread enterprise adoption has been shockingly low.
