Fast and easy remote data access is essential for SaaS-based ERP systems today.
In his session at the 11th International Cloud Expo, David Shugars, Sr. Software Engineer, Research & Development at Plex Systems, Inc., will describe how Plex Online uses superior connectivity to provide simplified data access for compatibility with a broad range of standard reporting tools. With this powerful data integration, Plex users simply access business, production, financial, and other data from their manufacturing operations through queries, and combine the information with data from other sources as required to generate custom reports.

Why the cloud is the perfect companion for startups
By Sharon Florentine
The cloud is the perfect companion for startups.
No, really.
There are as many reasons for startups to embrace cloud computing technology as there are for enterprises. As Janakiram Mocherla, cloud-technology consultant, evangelist and author outlines, there are ten main reasons why startups should consider going to the cloud.
10. Self service: For startups, the ability to provision and de-provision resources all by yourself, without relying on a third party, is very powerful.
Most cloud platforms include a dashboard or management console that you can use to acquire and launch resources as you need them. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have a trusted cloud provider in your corner.
Rackspace has devoted an entire solution set to supporting startups, and knowing you can turn to their expertise can be very reassuring.
9. No CAPEX: Captial Expenditures (CAPEX) may be the biggest hurdle for budding entrepreneurs, especially …
Case Study: PreEmptive Solutions Harnesses the Cloud
While having successfully grown their business using a popular cloud provider’s shared platform, as this client’s company continued to grow, their system became insufficient to support the demands for higher performance and I/O at a reasonable price. After a discussion with their partners and team of cloud experts, it was determined that a dedicated private cloud solution from ServerCentral was the answer to their business objectives:
Achieve dramatic increases in I/O
Improve customer satisfaction by providing better performance than industry competitors
Assess replacement requirements for outdated and underperforming infrastructure
Implement a long-term solution to meet their growing needs
After just 30 days of live testing, the client found substantial improvement in performance and moved forward with a production deployment.
Cloud Expo Silicon Valley: Velocity Marketing – Growth Hackers, Try & Buy
Cloud Marketing is undergoing such radical changes that some have even suggested that programmers, or so called «Growth Hackers,» will replace marketers altogether.
In his session at the 11th International Cloud Expo, Ken Rutsky, a Product and Service Marketing Consultant, will explore the Velocity Marketing Revolution happening before our eyes, and how Product Managers, Engineers and others should think about it and take advantage of the opportunities it provides.

Cloud Computing: Jerry Yang’s Reportedly Backing Metacloud
Ever get the feeling that soon there’ll be so many clouds we’ll never see the sun again? Well, here’s another one.
It’s called Metacloud.
After quietly starting early last year it’s just hit the radar, turning up with an undisclosed investment from Storm Ventures and – according to Wired –former Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang’s AME Cloud Ventures.
That makes some sense since Metacloud is headed by Steve Curry, who spent a dozen years at Yahoo managing its global storage operations, responsible for hundreds of petabytes of content and user data.
The other folks involved are émigrés from Ticketmaster, the third largest e-commerce system in the world, including Metacloud CTO Sean Lynch who was head of technical operations there.
The Cloud Computing State of the Union | CTO Power Panel at Cloud Expo
What are the technical benefits of building a business on the cloud? If that cloud is open, are the benefits fewer or are they more plentiful? What security issues remain in the clouds being stood up in 2012, compared to cloud computing’s earlier days? How are multi-national cloud initiatives faring, technically and from a compliance perspective? How *green* is cloud computing? Why does big data analytics need clouds, and where will the two-step between Big Data and the Cloud lead to next?
In this CTO Power Panel at the 11th International Cloud Expo, these and a host of other questions will be asked and answered in this fast-moving industry panel, featuring leading Cloud & Big Data practitioners and thought leaders and moderated by Cloud Expo Conference Chair Jeremy Geelan.
