IBM is buying Texas-based StoredIO, née Deepfile, which develops information management, compliance and electronic discovery software.
Terms were not disclosed.
Blue said StoredIQ will help customers derive value from unstructured Big Data and respond more efficiently to litigation and regulations, dispose of information that has outlived its purpose and lower data storage costs.
The widgetry, which can handle e-mail as well as file-sharing and collaboration sites, is bound for IBM’s information lifecycle governance business.
