Survey: Mobile Development for 2015 | @CloudExpo #API #Cloud #DevOps
A recent survey conducted by Slashdot Media asked mobile developers four key questions that look into the most pressing challenges they face today, how their development approach is changing, which mobile platforms are taking the forefront in the coming years, and how they are ensuring that their apps will meet the quality standards that users demand. Here are the results of the survey.
F5 + Blue Medora By @PSilvas | @CloudExpo #Cloud
Together with F5 and Blue Medora, extend the view of the VMware vRealize Operations management platform with a BIG-IP Plug-in Management Pack directly available from VMware Solution Exchange. This allows customers to monitor the critical components of application delivery at the virtualization layer to diagnose issues to make adjustments real-time.
[slides] Critical Communications for IoT By @ImadMouline | @ThingsExpo #IoT #M2M #RTC #BigData
What if, during a snow emergency, an on-the-ground sensor could automatically trigger a relevant emergency notification related to snowfall and road impact. And then, after it’s triggered, that notification is delivered intelligently to individuals based on an extensive set of rules designed to alert the most available and capable responders.
This “what if” question about “smart highways” is short-sighted. We are already there, and we are only getting started. While mainstream attention is paid to machine-to-machine communications, new technologies are being developed to make these communications even more actionable during critical situations (call it “machine-to-machine-to human”).
Log Management Made Easy | @DevOpsSummit #DevOps #Docker
Over the last six months we have all seen a serious uptake in people quickly building new POCs and early prototypes, as well as production workloads running on Docker. We recognize Docker is here to stay and it is going to have a massive impact on how we innovate in the future. Because log management can be an expensive requirement, especially when using some of the more traditional solutions, and in particular, if you are producing more than a few GB per month, Logentries has announced free logging for the Docker community.

Public and Private Cloud Platforms | @CloudExpo #Cloud #BigData #IoT #API
For the past few years, enterprises have grappled with the personal cloud dilemma: “Should we use private or public cloud?” To some degree this has moved beyond a binary, either-or decision and now many enterprises are using both, but the question still remains on a per-workload basis: “Should I run this workload on public or private cloud?”
To help enterprises weigh up the pros and cons of public and private clouds it’s useful to find comparable attributes and to consider their pros and cons. The original five cloud characteristics, as stated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), are a great starting point for such a comparison
Disruption Day – the Skills Revolution By @DinkoEror | @CloudExpo #Cloud
In my last post I discussed where to start when it comes to addressing the software-driven enterprise challenge head on as we see each industry’s «disruption day» draw closer. In my view, perhaps the biggest challenge for the established players of the day – in the industrial revolution it was the cottage industries, today it is the incumbents in virtually every market – is one of change management, and the skills required in the new world order.
IoT for the Enterprise By @ChrisFleck | @ThingsExpo #IoT #M2M #API #InternetOfThings
Many of the early examples tend to highlight smart cities or home automation. For most enterprises, however, the ability to connect and integrate everything together can solve current problems and open up new opportunities.
Most enterprises have complex combinations of legacy systems, SaaS services, thousands of devices, multiple locations and unending new requirements from business leaders looking to expand revenues or cut costs. Having the ability to integrate and connect all these systems, services, people and things into automated workflows can make a lot of sense.
