A bunch of the boys who worked at XenSource through its acquisition by Citrix have pragmatically turned their back on the hand that used to feed them in their new enterprise infrastructure start-up.
Convergent.io is going to base its scale-out software-defined storage widgetry on VMware virtualization, which is way more popular with the storied enterprise set it will focus on attracting once its mojo is ready.
It says it’s “developing a disruptive technology” – of course, what else – “that combines the flexibility of a software approach to redefine enterprise storage resources with the economics of high-performance commodity hardware to help customers realize the vision of a software-defined data center.”
