inovex GmnbH has just announced its partnership with C12G Labs to support the deployment and operation of OpenNebula-based enterprise cloud infrastructures, and the automation and migration of legacy systems. With OpenNebula as their software platform, inovex experts can set up cloud infrastructures very quickly and operate them efficiently.
inovex is particularly qualified to use OpenNebula in an enterprise environment. inovex has many years of experience in virtualisation, data centre management and highly available and ultra-scalable storage. inovex helps leading Internet companies, like 1&1 Internet AG (WEB.DE, GMX), buch.de and maxdome, IT departments in traditional industry (such as Bosch, Daimler, Porsche and Volkswagen) and other leading industrial companies like EnBW or DB Schenker, to deal with their IT challenges. For over four years, inovex has been following the development of OpenNebula and other solutions, like OpenStack and OpenQRM. The new partnership with OpenNebula now underpins the confidence inovex experts have in the product and C12G Labs.

My Security Playlist: Now Playing Access Management
The Who asked ultimate Access Management question…”Who Are You?” So do we listen to Paul McCartney said and “Open the door and let ’em in” or kick them to curb as the Stones suggest…”Hey You, Get off of my Cloud” The answer is different for each organization because, not every employee, partner or customer is equal.
While I peruse my morning inbox, I enjoy listening to music on my iPod. It just so happens this morning’s first random selection served as the inspiration for today’s blog: Let ‘Em In by Paul McCartney & Wings.
There is nothing more damaging to the overall enterprise operation and business reputation than permissive access policies. Considering the all the entry points from applications to social media to email to cracks in the network perimeter, it is incumbent upon any company of any size to take security more seriously than a cost center or after-thought.
City Governments Are Being Cloud Enabled
“We are excited to be able to offer the great benefits of our OpenShift PaaS to city governments through our work with Code for America,” said Ashesh Badani, global leader, Cloud and OpenShift, Red Hat, as RH announced a collaboration with Code for America (CfA), a non-profit organization that partners with local governments to foster civic innovation, focused on using technology to increase civic engagement.
Is BYOD the cloud evangelist’s worst nightmare?
For three in four IT security professionals, bring your own device (BYOD) is one of the “greatest inhibitors to effective cloud security”.
That’s the result from a new report by AccelOps. Talking to 176 IT security personnel, the results put BYOD ahead of data control and data loss – traditional topics for cloud security worriers – as the main security threat.
Other cloud security pain points according to the research included enforcing security policies, compliance reporting and employee training; yet given data breaches and data loss were the top two security threats released by the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) last month, this may be something of a surprise.
Research in January from ISC2 explicitly linked cloud computing and personal device policies, with the key takeaway being that companies who support BYOD make their employees happier, whilst at the same time they need to top up their cloud security knowledge. The same …

Cloud Expo New York: Developing the World’s First IaaS Marketplace
The world’s first vendor neutral marketplace for IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) cloud computing is being built. This marketplace fills the current gap in the value chain by offering standardized products and by addressing the needs of providers and consumers of cloud computing resources. Zimory is the technical partner for the settlement process of this project.
In his session at the 12th International Cloud Expo, Ruediger Baumann, CEO of Zimory, will introduce the marketplace from the technical point of view, focusing on the initial software requirements and later implementation of the software by buyers and sellers. An insight into the status of the project will be given as well the importance of standards when trading computing power in the same way as other utilities, such as energy.
Learn How To Use Google Apps Script
Google Apps Script is a cloud based JavaScript environment which allows you to write powerful applications and workflows around Google Apps such as Gmail, Docs, Drive, Sheets and more. The development is entirely within a browser and it’s free and easy to get started. At this session, Cloud Expo delegates have the opportunity to learn all the capabilities of Google Apps Script. Walk away being able to write your first script!
Open Clouds Require Open CIOs
Everyone has an argument for the ideal technological approach to cloud computing: public vs. private (vs. hybrid), open vs. closed, vertical vs. horizontal, etc. Larry Ellison’s thoughts on the proprietary cloud aside, an open cloud environment is inevitable. Companies will have a variety of tools and technologies working together to comprise the future cloud landscape.
But, to be successful, a company using cloud technologies requires an open organization where the IT department and line of business embrace each other as partners in the venture. Therefore an investment in cloud computing, more than previous technology shifts, requires an investment in the IT department’s people and processes.
MaaS Implements Small Data and Enables Personal Clouds
MaaS (Model as a Service) sets a new concept to order and classify data modeling design and deployment to the Cloud. MaaS changes the way to move data to the Cloud because allows to define data taxonomy, size and contents. Starting from data model design, MaaS might guide the DaaS (Database as a Service) lifecycle, providing data granularity and duty rules: as a consequence, MaaS implements the new concept of Small Data.
In fact, Small Data answers to the need of controlling “on-premise” data dimension and granularity. Anyway, Small Data is not data volume limitation. Small Data affords data modeling full configuration and provides 2 main advantages: data model scale and data ownership that provide assigned data deployment and, finally, data deletion in the Cloud.
