{"id":42717,"date":"2022-01-18T15:23:43","date_gmt":"2022-01-18T15:23:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/?guid=557cf0cfb8dda459b6013b34ad2c1e47"},"modified":"2022-01-18T15:23:43","modified_gmt":"2022-01-18T15:23:43","slug":"uk-businesses-urged-to-join-four-day-working-week-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/uk-businesses-urged-to-join-four-day-working-week-trial\/","title":{"rendered":"UK businesses urged to join four-day working week trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field-name-field-author field-type-node-reference field-label-hidden\"><br \/>\n      <span class=\"field-item even\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/authors\/sabina-weston\">Sabina Weston<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datetime field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">17 Jan, 2022<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"short-teaser\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/\" title=\"\" class=\"combined-link\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body\">\n<p>UK <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/business\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/business\">businesses<\/a> are being urged to join a six-month trial of a four-day working week, as organisers aim to sign up at least 30 companies by June.<\/p>\n<p>Organised by the 4 Day Week Global organisation and the Autonomy <span class=\"scayt-misspell-word\" data-scayt-word=\"thinktank\" data-wsc-lang=\"en_GB\" data-wsc-id=\"kyk9j3y2dtfcdbnnr\">thinktank<\/span>, the pilot programme will be monitored by Cambridge and Oxford Universities in order to measure the four-day working week\u2019s impact on staff productivity and wellbeing, as well as the impact on the environment and gender equality.<\/p>\n<p><span data-cke-copybin-start=\"1\">\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Participating employees will receive 100% of their usual pay for only four days at work, in exchange for their commitment to maintain &#8220;at least&#8221; For this reason, we\u2019re keen to pilot a four-day week to see if it can work for us,\u201d said president Ken Sutherland.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, UK-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/technology\/361118\/fintech-investment-reaches-record-levels\">fintech<\/a> Atom bank <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/business-operations\/business-management\/361627\/uk-fintech-atom-bank-moves-workers-to-a-four-day\">garnered headlines<\/a> for introducing a four-day working week for all its employees with no change in salary. Prior to that, UK supermarket Morrisons also announced plans to shift to a four-day working week, keeping employee pay the same.
