{"id":42493,"date":"2021-10-05T10:48:25","date_gmt":"2021-10-05T10:48:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/?guid=185463a0d22ef226c53c9994a9cf7be9"},"modified":"2021-10-05T10:48:25","modified_gmt":"2021-10-05T10:48:25","slug":"windows-11-rollout-begins-as-industry-predicts-slow-business-uptake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/windows-11-rollout-begins-as-industry-predicts-slow-business-uptake\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows 11 rollout begins as industry predicts slow business uptake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field-name-field-author field-type-node-reference field-label-hidden\"><br \/>\n      <span class=\"field-item even\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/authors\/sabina-weston\">Sabina Weston<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datetime field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">5 Oct, 2021<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"short-teaser\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/\" title=\"\" class=\"combined-link\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/microsoft\">Microsoft<\/a>\u00a0has officially launched Windows 11, with the operating system&#8217;s phased rollout kicking off on 5 October.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The release has been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/software\/operating-systems\/360733\/windows-11-release-date-official-5-october\">long anticipated<\/a>\u00a0by consumers and tech industry professionals alike, with the update bringing a number of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/operating-systems\/microsoft-windows\/360000\/the-best-windows-11-features\" >new features<\/a>\u00a0such as a redesigned Start menu, Microsoft Teams integration, and the promise of faster future updates.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--wysiwyg_see-related_plugin--><\/p>\n<p>\nWindows chief product officer Panos Panay, who was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/operating-systems\/microsoft-windows\/360696\/microsoft-panos-panay-promoted-leadership\">promoted to executive vice president in August<\/a>, announced the launch on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/windowsexperience\/2021\/10\/04\/windows-11-a-new-era-for-the-pc-begins-today\/\">Windows Blogs<\/a>\u00a0and thanked Microsoft\u2019s partners for their support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to our entire ecosystem of partners who have played important roles in helping us prepare to get Windows 11 into the hands of our customers around the world. From OEM and app partners, to silicon, to retail, to our Windows Insiders, a launch of this global scale could not be achieved without them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of the entire team, we are pumped to bring you Windows 11, the Windows that brings you closer to what you love. We look forward to seeing the dreams and ideas you bring to life with Windows 11. This is just the beginning,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The tech industry was\u00a0quick to share its thoughts on the launch, and many believe Windows 11 will fail to make a significant impact, with business uptake likely to be slow.<\/p>\n<p>Gartner senior research director Ranjit Atwal, for example, told\u00a0<em>IT Pro\u00a0<\/em>that he is not expecting the launch to create \u201csignificant change\u201d in the wider PC market. Many businesses will likely wait until next year to upgrade to Windows 11, he added, due to uncertainty towards the availability and compatibility of different\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/business-apps\">apps<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Riley, director of Cloud Nexus, a security provider and gold Microsoft Partner, told\u00a0<em>IT Pro,\u00a0<\/em>also believes that business uptake of the new operating system will be slow.
