Cisco has acquired application monitoring firm Epsagon<\/span> in a multi-million dollar deal that will see the firm\u2019s technology integrated into Cisco\u2019s products and services<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Joining the company\u2019s Strategy, Incubation and Applications division, the Epsagon<\/span> acquisition will expand Cisco\u2019s advanced full-stack observability strategy with its expertise and technology.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nThe startup, which has offices in New York and Tel Aviv, distributes tracing systems for modern applications and services, including containers<\/a> and server-free environments.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The value of the acquisition hasn\u2019t been publicly disclosed, although Globes <\/em>reports<\/a> the figure stands at $500 million. Epsagon<\/span> itself has raised $30 million to date, according to Pitchbook<\/span>, with Globes<\/em> estimating its value at between $100 to $200 million.<\/p>\n

As the app market\u2019s competitive landscape expands, Cisco\u2019s senior VP and chief strategy office Liz Centoni<\/span> said, businesses must fast-track their innovation timelines or they\u2019ll be overtaken by their rivals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Businesses are doing this by adopting cloud-native technologies, microservices<\/a> and containerised components on a massive scale. This has led to a rise in the complexity of IT environments, with firms like Epsagon<\/span> stepping in to track the performance of the components that make up a firm\u2019s digital infrastructure.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cCisco\u2019s approach to full-stack observability gives our customers the ability to move beyond just monitoring to a paradigm that delivers shared context across teams and enables our customers to deliver exceptional digital experiences, optimise for cost, security and performance and maximise digital business revenue,\u201d Centoni<\/span> said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEpsagon\u2019s<\/span> technology and talent align well with Cisco\u2019s vision to enable enterprises to deliver unmatched application experiences through industry-leading solutions with deep business context. By contextualizing and correlating visibility and insights across the full stack, teams can improve collaboration to better understand their systems, solve issues quickly, optimise and secure application experiences and delight their customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cisco\u2019s core software as a service (SaaS)<\/a>\u00a0platforms includes AppDynamics<\/span>, ThousandEyes<\/span> and Intersight<\/span> which all feed into the full-stack observability strategy.
