{"id":41991,"date":"2021-04-13T09:48:34","date_gmt":"2021-04-13T09:48:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/?guid=6baa462e2c13ec311f973e4dc708070f"},"modified":"2021-04-13T09:48:34","modified_gmt":"2021-04-13T09:48:34","slug":"ibms-infrastructure-services-spin-off-to-be-named-kyndryl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/ibms-infrastructure-services-spin-off-to-be-named-kyndryl\/","title":{"rendered":"IBM&#8217;s infrastructure services spin-off to be named Kyndryl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field-name-field-author field-type-node-reference field-label-hidden\"><br \/>\n      <span class=\"field-item even\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/authors\/sabina-weston\">Sabina Weston<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datetime field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">13 Apr, 2021<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"short-teaser\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/\" title=\"\" class=\"combined-link\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body\">\n<p>IBM has unveiled the name of its Managed Infrastructure Services business which is to become a fully-fledged public company by the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p>The company previously referred to the spin-off as simply \u2018NewCo\u2019, but it has now been announced that the new infrastructure services company is to be named Kyndryl \u2013 a combination of the words \u2018kinship\u2019 and \u2018tendril\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes six months after IBM declared that it would be\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/business\/business-operations\/357370\/ibm-to-spin-off-infrastructure-business-as-it-goes-all-in-on\">splitting its business into two separate entities<\/a>, bringing an end to a strategy that saw it attempt to shift towards\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/cloud\">cloud<\/a>\u00a0growth while maintaining a foothold in its legacy business.<\/p>\n<p><!--wysiwyg_see-related_plugin--><\/p>\n<p>\nMartin Schroeter, who was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/business-strategy\/careers-training\/358266\/ibm-martin-schroeter-ceo-of-infrastructure-spin-off\">appointed Kyndryl CEO at the beginning of this year<\/a>, said that the name \u201cevokes the spirit of true partnership and growth\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCustomers around the world will come to know Kyndryl as a brand that runs the vital systems at the heart of progress, and an independent company with the best global talent in the industry,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kyndryl chief marketing officer Maria Bartolome Winans, \u201ccreating a name is just the start of our journey as a brand\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will help identify us and support recognition, but the meaning of the name will be built and enhanced over time from our behaviours, aspirations and actions, and what we enable our customers to do. Our vision is to be the leading company that designs, runs and modernises the critical technology infrastructure of the world&#8217;s most important businesses and institutions, ultimately powering human progress,\u201d said Winans.<\/p>\n<p>Kyndryl\u2019s headquarters are to be located in New York City, which Schroeter described as \u201cone of the world&#8217;s most vibrant and global urban centres\u201d, adding that the decision \u201cunderscores [Kyndryl\u2019s] commitment to the economic health of cities\u201d.
