{"id":41923,"date":"2021-03-18T16:29:07","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T16:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/?guid=bfaa02561c1f4c2349f0698c825389b0"},"modified":"2021-03-18T16:29:07","modified_gmt":"2021-03-18T16:29:07","slug":"hancock-reveals-digital-future-of-nhs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/hancock-reveals-digital-future-of-nhs\/","title":{"rendered":"Hancock reveals digital future of NHS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field-name-field-author field-type-node-reference field-label-hidden\"><br \/>\n      <span class=\"field-item even\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/authors\/zach-marzouk\">Zach Marzouk<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datetime field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">18 Mar, 2021<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"short-teaser\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/\" title=\"\" class=\"combined-link\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body\">\n<p>Health secretary Matt Hancock\u00a0has outlined his vision for the digital future of the NHS that operates across a &#8220;consistent data platform&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalhealthrewired.com\/\"  data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/digitalhealthrewired.com\/\">Digital Health Rewired<\/a> virtual festival, Hancock <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/speeches\/driving-digital-in-the-nhs\"  data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/speeches\/driving-digital-in-the-nhs\">announced<\/a>\u00a0he wants to explore whether\u00a0a data platform can be created that separates the data layer from the application layer.<\/p>\n<p><span data-cke-copybin-start=\"1\">\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This would mean\u00a0&#8220;providers can offer the application software, but the data will be stored separately and securely in the cloud and then we have a consistent data platform across the NHS&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He said\u00a0it should be made easier to write applications or create services that interact with data from different NHS organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Hancock also said that Shared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/security\/data-breaches\/358864\/third-party-attacks-expose-12m-health-care-records\" >Care Records<\/a> will be put in place by September this year, where every local system will have at least a basic version implemented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will mean patients only need to give their details once, and they\u2019ll be captured in a local record that can be safely seen by those who are caring for them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>There was also an emphasis on the need to \u201cconnect the system so data flows appropriately and freely, and we get the intrinsic benefits that high quality data and interoperability can provide.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"wysiwyg-widget-wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Delighted to be joined by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MattHancock?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MattHancock<\/a> this morning at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DHRewired21?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DHRewired21<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JZIqtFRnxt\">pic.twitter.com\/JZIqtFRnxt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Digital Health Rewired (@DHRewired) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DHRewired\/status\/1372475121638776835?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 18, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>\nHe admitted that bringing together the data that usually would have only existed in silos was fundamental to the NHS\u2019s COVID response.
