However, the models have been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT211238?utm_source=technave\">listed<\/a>\u00a0as compatible with the update.<\/p>\n<p><span data-cke-copybin-start=\"1\"><\/p>\n<p><!--wysiwyg_see-related_plugin--><\/p>\n<p>\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Apple\u2019s engineering team is reportedly aware of the issue and Big Sur has become a popular topic of discussion on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/discussions.apple.com\/thread\/252033190\">Apple Support<\/a>\u00a0forum, with users describing how their MacBooks are stuck on a black screen with keyboards \u201ccompletely disabled\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Apple is reportedly telling users to bring their laptops in for repair, according to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/mac\/comments\/ju0miw\/macbook_pro_died_after_big_sur_update\/\">discussion on forum site Reddit<\/a>. However, this might not be possible for many living in regions under government-imposed lockdowns, such as England.<\/p>\n<p style=\"display: inline !important;\">This is\u00a0not the only issue\u00a0facing Big Sur. On 14 November, when the macOS update was released, Apple users reported server outages that caused iMessage and Apple Pay to go down and performance issues for users running macOS Catalina and earlier,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2020\/11\/15\/apple-explains-addresses-mac-privacy-concerns\/\">according to\u00a0<em>9to5Mac<\/em><\/a>. The issue also caused Big Sur downloads and installations to fail, as well as security and privacy concerns.<\/p>\n<div aria-label=\"Embedded entity widget\" class=\"cke_widget_wrapper cke_widget_block cke_widget_drupalentity cke_widget_selected\" data-cke-display-name=\"Embedded Paragraphs\" data-cke-filter=\"off\" data-cke-widget-id=\"0\" data-cke-widget-wrapper=\"1\" role=\"region\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n<p><em>IT Pro<\/em>\u00a0has contacted Apple for comment but has yet to hear back from the company.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Cupertino-based tech giant\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/hardware\/357720\/apple-unveils-new-generation-mac-lineup-powered-by-the-new-m1-chip\">announced a new lineup of its flagship laptops<\/a>\u00a0powered by its all-new M1 chip.
