{"id":41122,"date":"2020-07-20T11:07:10","date_gmt":"2020-07-20T11:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/?guid=93a91428aff3f6c1e4132a40b5c23dcb"},"modified":"2020-07-20T11:07:10","modified_gmt":"2020-07-20T11:07:10","slug":"windows-10-bug-is-causing-internet-connection-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/windows-10-bug-is-causing-internet-connection-problems\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows 10 bug is causing internet connection problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field-name-field-author field-type-node-reference field-label-hidden\"><br \/>\n      <span class=\"field-item even\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/authors\/keumars-afifi-sabet-0\">Keumars Afifi-Sabet<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datetime field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">20 Jul, 2020<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"short-teaser\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/\" title=\"\" class=\"combined-link\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body\">\n<p>Microsoft is investigating reports that Windows 10 is falsely suggesting users who have upgraded to the latest feature update aren\u2019t connected to the internet, despite them experiencing a stable connection.<\/p>\n<p>Bizarrely, this issue, which is being\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/answers.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/forum\/all\/windows-10-version-2004-internet-access\/faf0bab2-765d-41dc-b251-3e3301b9a3f0?page=1\">widely reported online<\/a>, is also causing some desktop apps, such as Cortana and Feedback Hub, to break because these applications believe the device is not connected to the web, according to<em>\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.windowslatest.com\/2020\/07\/18\/windows-10-no-internet-connection-problem\/\"><em>Windows Latest<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am running on Windows 10 Enterprise, Version 2004, OS Build 19041.264,&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/answers.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/forum\/all\/windows-10-says-i-have-no-internet-connection-but\/50153e5b-a008-443d-af0e-5ee3822c37a1?page=1\">one user commented<\/a>. &#8220;I recently changed to the Windows Insider Program and updated Windows.<\/p>\n<p><!--wysiwyg_see-related_plugin--><\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;In the taskbar, the Wi-Fi icon shows No Internet Access, but I have a stable internet connection wirelessly (Ex: I can browse the internet, ping IP Addresses, etc.). Another problem is when I try to open Cortana it also says that I have no internet connection (By the way, I can also open Microsoft&#8217;s website).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The bug manifests as the Wi-Fi icon to the bottom-right of the icon tray incorrectly displaying a \u2018No Internet Access\u2019 message. While users are still able to browse the internet, as normal, a host of apps seemingly rely on this status message in order to establish connections, with software such as Spotify and even the Microsoft Store failing to reach their servers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft is aware of the Network Connectivity Status Indicator (NCSI) issue,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/social.technet.microsoft.com\/Forums\/en-US\/4c8654be-d3da-4611-a649-110ca5a7c70a\/ncsi-taskbar-icon-may-report-quotno-internetquot-on-windows-10-2004-devices-that-do-have?forum=win10itpronetworking\" >according to a contract worker<\/a>\u00a0posting on a Microsoft forum, but the bug hasn\u2019t yet been resolved.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Most users experiencing the issue have complained only after upgrading to version 2004, also known as the May 2020 Update.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is simply the latest in a string of minor, and major, issues that have arisen after Microsoft first launched its major May 2020 Update.
