In merging with VMware, the company hopes to offer a broader range of security products that complement many of the cloud giant\u2019s platforms \u2013\u00a0from workload protection to the data centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The move, however, will result in approximately 40% of Lastline\u2019s workforce being axed as part of the acquisition,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2020\/06\/04\/vmware-lastline-staff-cuts\/\" class=\"polaris__link -is-external\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>according to\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span><em><span><span><span>Tech Crunch<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span>. This equates with roughly 50 employees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>VMware has retained a focus on supporting multi-cloud environments and cloud-native hybrid deployments, with platforms such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/cloud\/virtualisation\/354962\/vmware-launches-vsphere-7-and-tanzu-container-management-tools\" class=\"polaris__link -is-external\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vSphere available in a variety of cloud configuration and hosting environments<\/a>. The company has also pursued a strategy of integrating security functionality and threat detection into apps, workloads, networks, users, and endpoint devices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBy joining forces with VMware, we will be able to offer additional capabilities to our customers and bring to market comprehensive security solutions for the data centre, branch office and remote and mobile users,\u201d said Lastline CEO John Dilullo.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIn recent years, Lastline has enjoyed tremendous growth, acclaim for its AI-based threat detection capabilities, and most recently, recognition for pioneering successes with our Network Detection and Response (NDR) and Public Cloud security solutions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"polaris__simple-grid--main\">\n<p><span>The firm only last month\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/business-strategy\/mergers-and-acquisitions\/355648\/vmware-to-acquire-kubernetes-security-firm\" class=\"polaris__link -is-external\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced plans to acquire Kubernetes security firm Octarine<\/a><span>, which will be bundled in Carbon Black as part of VMware\u2019s long-term security vision.
