{"id":40718,"date":"2020-04-09T15:30:59","date_gmt":"2020-04-09T15:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/?guid=8bdfaff3c5e950fe6346dc4f2a8642c6"},"modified":"2020-04-09T15:30:59","modified_gmt":"2020-04-09T15:30:59","slug":"mozilla-re-hires-veteran-mitchell-baker-to-serve-as-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/mozilla-re-hires-veteran-mitchell-baker-to-serve-as-ceo\/","title":{"rendered":"Mozilla re-hires veteran Mitchell Baker to serve as CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field-name-field-author field-type-node-reference field-label-hidden\"><br \/>\n      <span class=\"field-item even\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/authors\/keumars-afifi-sabet\">Keumars Afifi-Sabet<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datetime field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">9 Apr, 2020<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"short-teaser\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/\" title=\"\" class=\"combined-link\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body\">\n<p>The Mozilla Corporation\u2019s first CEO Mitchell Baker has rejoined the company to serve as its next chief executive after Chris Beard\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/business-strategy\/34300\/mozilla-s-ceo-chris-beard-is-stepping-down-as-search-for-a-successor-starts\" >announced his intention to resign in August last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Baker, who was instrumental in the creation of the Mozilla Foundation, has been serving as the company\u2019s CEO on an interim basis since December 2019 when Beard officially stepped down from his position.<\/p>\n<p>The company has been attracted to her \u201cinnate knowledge of Mozilla\u201d alongside a sense of urgency and transparency and a focus on long-term development, which she\u2019s demonstrated since taking over from Beard.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-above\">\n<div class=\"field__item\">\n<p>\u201cWe have been conducting an external candidate search for the past eight months, and while we have met several qualified candidates, we have concluded that Mitchell is the right leader for Mozilla at this time,\u201d said Mozilla board members Julie Hanna, Karin Lakhani and Bob Lisbonne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMitchell\u2019s deep understanding of Mozilla\u2019s existing businesses gives her the ability to provide direction and support to drive this important work forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mozilla\u2019s strategic plan, its board members added, focuses on accelerating growth for its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/web-browsers\/24796\/which-is-the-best-browser-chrome-vs-firefox-vs-microsoft-edge\" >core Firefox browser platform<\/a>\u00a0while investing in innovation to tackle some of the biggest emerging challenges facing the internet.<\/p>\n<p>The industry veteran was at the heart of the organisation\u2019s inception in 2005 and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itpro.co.uk\/153660\/new-chief-executive-for-mozilla\" >served as its CEO until the start of 2008<\/a>, although her ties with the company remained, and she continued to serve as its executive chairwoman.<\/p>\n<p>The company has cycled through a number of leaders since. Chris Beard also initially took over on an interim basis from his predecessor Brendan Eich in 2014.
