{"id":36895,"date":"2018-11-09T07:44:33","date_gmt":"2018-11-09T07:44:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/?guid=b2082da468d7d808e73915a382a6f076"},"modified":"2018-11-09T07:44:33","modified_gmt":"2018-11-09T07:44:33","slug":"amazon-and-cisco-join-forces-to-create-hybrid-app-development-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/amazon-and-cisco-join-forces-to-create-hybrid-app-development-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon and Cisco join forces to create hybrid app development platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field-name-field-author field-type-node-reference field-label-hidden\"><br \/>\n      <span class=\"field-item even\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/authors\/clare-hopping\">Clare Hopping<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datetime field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">9 Nov, 2018<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"short-teaser\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/\" title=\"\" class=\"combined-link\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body\">\n<p> Amazon and Cisco have teamed up to make it easier for developers to build apps across cloud and traditional on-premise architecture, switching them from one to the other when required.<\/p>\n<p>Cisco Hybrid Solution for Kubernetes on Amazon allows developers to create their apps either on AWS&#8217;s cloud service or on their traditional servers in containers.<\/p>\n<p>Kip Compton,\u00a0senior vice president of Cisco&#8217;s Cloud Platform and Solutions group explained that developers are often expected to work in fragmented environments, with their applications hosted either on the cloud or in traditional on-premise environments.\u00a0But when switching to a hybrid model, it&#8217;s often a complicated process to get up and running, with\u00a0technologies, teams, and vendors needing to work closely together to make sure apps can move from cloud to on-premise seamlessly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s where containers and specifically, Google-developed Kubernetes comes in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Containers and Kubernetes have emerged as key technologies to give developers more agility, portability, and speed \u2014 both in how applications are developed and in how they are deployed,&#8221; Compton explained in a blog post. &#8220;But, enterprises have been struggling to realize the full potential of these technologies because of the complexity of managing containerized applications in a hybrid environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cisco Hybrid Solution for Kubernetes on Amazon combines\u00a0the Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes, with\u00a0Cisco&#8217;s Container Platform and Cisco&#8217;s on-premise infrastructure to create a hybrid solution for businesses wanting to use a hybrid approach without the extra work.<\/p>\n<p>When setting up apps, developers can choose to deploy them on either AWS or on their on-premise architecture running Cisco&#8217;s Container Platform.
