{"id":35791,"date":"2018-07-16T20:00:46","date_gmt":"2018-07-16T20:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/?guid=4b7cf2afe2ca2d3737474e9e4ab92acf"},"modified":"2018-07-16T20:00:46","modified_gmt":"2018-07-16T20:00:46","slug":"orange-acquires-basefarm-to-boost-european-cloud-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/orange-acquires-basefarm-to-boost-european-cloud-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Orange acquires Basefarm to boost European cloud services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field-name-field-author field-type-node-reference field-label-hidden\"><br \/>\n      <span class=\"field-item even\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/authors\/clare-hopping\">Clare Hopping<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datetime field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">17 Jul, 2018<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"short-teaser\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cloudpro.co.uk\/\" title=\"\" class=\"combined-link\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body\">\n<p> Orange has taken a huge step in the business cloud market, acquiring cloud infrastructure and critical application services firm\u00a0Basefarm to help grow its\u00a0Orange Business Services division.<\/p>\n<p>While Orange is a strong cloud player in France, it&#8217;s looking to diversify the services it provides across Europe, strengthening its hold on the cloud sector.<\/p>\n<p>Basefarm already has a strong presence within Europe, particularly\u00a0Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany, where it offers a range of\u00a0cloud-based infrastructure and services, management of critical applications and analytics to help businesses get more insight from their usage data.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--wysiwyg_see-related_plugin--><\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cWe are very proud to announce the acquisition of\u00a0Basefarm,\u00a0which will mark a major milestone in our international development,&#8221;\u00a0Helmut Reisinger, CEO of Orange Business Services, said.\u00a0&#8220;In particular, the company\u2019s integration will enable us\u00a0to significantly extend our big data\u00a0and\u00a0critical application management\u00a0services\u00a0on a rapidly consolidating market.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In addition to our ability to offer access to public or private cloud infrastructure, it is above all our capacity to propose enriched, automated services to our customers, wherever they are in the world, that will enable us to support companies as they transform onto new, digital models based on cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The company hasn&#8217;t yet announced whether all 550 of Basearm&#8217;s staff will join the\u00a01,600\u00a0cloud computing\u00a0experts at Orange Business Services or whether there will be redundancies.
