Shares rose a cheery 13.5% to $14.96 on the news.<br \/>\n\u201cWhile progress has been made over the last three years in many areas,\u201d Bennett said in a statement, \u201cit was the board\u2019s judgment that it was in the best interests of Symantec to make a change in the CEO.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cMy view is that Symantec\u2019s assets are strong and yet the company is underperforming against the opportunity. I\u2019m looking forward to working with the team to build upon the significant assets in place to help Symantec accelerate value creation for all of its stakeholders.\u201d<br \/>\nHe intends to follow up on Symantec\u2019s push into mobile security.
