{"id":17903,"date":"2015-10-08T09:15:36","date_gmt":"2015-10-08T09:15:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businesscloudnews.com\/?p=236671"},"modified":"2015-10-08T09:15:36","modified_gmt":"2015-10-08T09:15:36","slug":"bt-discusses-its-interests-in-south-east-asia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/bt-discusses-its-interests-in-south-east-asia\/","title":{"rendered":"BT discusses its interests in South East Asia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.businesscloudnews.com\/files\/2015\/10\/Cloud-SEA.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-236681\" src=\"http:\/\/www.businesscloudnews.com\/files\/2015\/10\/Cloud-SEA-300x275.jpg\" alt=\"Cloud SEA\" width=\"300\" height=\"275\" \/><\/a>Nothing better reflects the way the Cloud is changing the traditional parameters of telecom operators than BT\u2019s presence at this morning\u2019s Cloud South East Asia keynotes in Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n<p>Thanaraj Kanagalingam, BT\u2019s regional solutions director, joined the likes of SingTel, Telekom Malaysia and MDeC in presenting at the well-attended conference, where he set out BT\u2019s strategic presence in the region, itself a microcosm of the UK\u2019s most recognisable telco\u2019s increasingly global strategy and reach.<\/p>\n<p>In South East Asia specifically, BT has been active in the networked IT business for a number of years, via acquisitions of local players such as Frontline (Singapore-based IT consulting and services company), which has driven them towards an ICT and telecommunications convergence play.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently BT has extended itself into the contact centre line business \u2013 with very strong links to the airline industries \u2013 and is\u00a0 now moving into what it is called \u2018the Cloud of Clouds\u2019 \u2013 positioning itself through partnerships with existing Cloud service providers, and providing a new array of digital services to enterprise customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s all about network connectivity,\u201d explained Kanagalingam, answering questions after his keynote. \u201cA lot of enterprises here want to go out to a global market, so when they establish themselves in China, in India, and so forth, they need to have that connectivity. BT provides this from a network perspective, from a telco perspective. We partner with local partners in each of these regions but at the same time leverage our traditional framework.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A focal point of BT\u2019s global appeal is security (a topic that has predictably dominated numerous discussions at Cloud South East Asia).
