{"id":13691,"date":"2015-04-17T10:28:59","date_gmt":"2015-04-17T10:28:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businesscloudnews.com\/?p=222642"},"modified":"2015-04-17T10:28:59","modified_gmt":"2015-04-17T10:28:59","slug":"sinopec-taps-alibaba-for-cloud-analytics-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icloud.pe\/blog\/sinopec-taps-alibaba-for-cloud-analytics-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Sinopec taps Alibaba for cloud, analytics services"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_219742\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 310px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.businesscloudnews.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/122\/files\/2015\/03\/oil-gas-rig.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-219742\" alt=\"Sinopec is working with Aliyun to roll out a series of cloud and big data services\" src=\"http:\/\/www.businesscloudnews.com\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/122\/files\/2015\/03\/oil-gas-rig-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sinopec is working with Aliyun to roll out a series of cloud and big data services<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Aliyun, Alibaba\u2019s cloud services division is working with China Petroleum &amp; Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) to roll out a set of cloud-based services and big data technologies to enable the firm to improve is exploration and production operations.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to BCN the companies said they will work together to roll out a \u201cshared platform for building-based business systems, big data analytics\u201d and other IT services tailored to the petroleum industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope to be able to use Alibaba\u2019s technology and experience in dealing with large-scale system architecture, multi-service data sharing, data applications in the large-scale petrochemical, oil and chemical industry operations,\u201d Sinopec said.<\/p>\n<p>The two companies also plan to explore the role of cloud and big data in connected vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Just last month Aliyun opened its first overseas datacentre in Silicon Valley, a move the Chinese e-commerce giant said will bolster its appeal to Chinese multinational companies.<\/p>\n<p>The company has already firmed up partnerships with large multinationals including PayPal and Dutch electronics giant Philips. The company has five datacentres in China.<\/p>\n<p>It would seem a number of large oil and gas firms have begun to warm to the cloud as of late.
